Kefalonia

Kefalonia is the best island on earth! I haven’t been to all but I am sure of it as for my excessive localism!

It shares the beauty of a wild beast (for its mountains and cliffs) and of a silent fairy (for its coastlines and traditional villages).
The luminous
Fiscardo, a palette of colors and style, looks like European filmography with Hollywood fame. The Argostoli Capital with its port, the road with palm trees and the light local square feels like playing an harmonious ‘Arietta’ as you walk through. Assos is the Poet of the island with its medieval castle and the beautiful gulf. Small rowboats stand in the port, children are making castles on the sand and the smell of fresh fried fish is roaming in the alley. Sami is one of the prettiest and most picturesque villages of Kefalonia.

Lixouri is the capital of my soul, my childhood, the laugh and happiness of my life. The friendly atmosphere and the madness of people is translucent. A small town with a big heart of colors, ‘le petit Paris’ as locals call it. You will find traditional houses with beautiful little gardens, a river that separates town in half and small bridges connecting the two sides.

There are numerous of beautiful villages in the peninsula of Palliki. Through the village of Soullarous you head to the beautiful beaches of Mia Lakos and Xi. Following the road to Xavdata you will reach the magnificent Monastery of Kipouria, where you can be loved under the blessings of the best sunset. On the crossroad to the Monastery we go north entering Xabriata, a beautiful village on the hill with a panoramic view of the field. On the west of the village there is a road leads to the wild exile of lighthouse Gero Gombos.

Other villages worth visiting, are Kaminarata with an astonishing view and Rifi with some beautiful manors and booster shots of oxygen. Atheras has the most beautiful colors and a natural bay surrounded by green hills embracing you with harmony.

As for the beaches that you settle down, each one has its character. The socializing Xi with umbrellas, sports and music, the ‘family business’ Mia Lakos and Lepeda, constitute the south part of Paliki.

The Adventurous Platia Ammos lies on the west and the heartbreaking Petanoi on the west north of Paliki. There are no other colors than green and blue – white of the north side of Kefalonia in Myrtos.

Paradise itself lies in the bays of Fteri where only boats, dinghies and wild goats reach ashore. Our hunting dog, sometimes, when he sees them runs after them...

Kefalonia has the unique odour that revitalizes my lungs, landscapes that sweeten my eyes and a sea that enlightens my soul.
